Jet ski pilot denies abandoning engineer after fatal accident in Lagoa do Bonfim

The jet ski pilot involved in the fatal accident at Lagoa do Bonfim, in Nísia Floresta, has denied abandoning the victim, 27-year-old engineer Carlos Eugênio Leopoldo Nunes Filho. The pilot, identified as Eduardo Rithelly, stated that the accident occurred while making a turn to enter a marina, claiming the passenger leaned to one side and pulled the driver, causing both to fall into the water.

Rithelly maintains that he participated in search efforts for approximately one and a half hours before leaving the area due to threats against his safety and his family. His legal defense has stated he is available to cooperate with authorities and intends to present himself to the police.

The victim's body was recovered on Monday morning following a search operation by the Fire Department. The Civil Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the death, while the victim's family has raised questions regarding the use of life jackets and the pilot's conduct.
