Jet2 Boeing 737 veers off runway at Birmingham Airport
A Jet2 Boeing 737-800 aircraft experienced a runway excursion during landing at Birmingham Airport on October 25. The flight, LS1310 from Venice, encountered strong and gusty winds associated with Storm Boelo while approaching runway 33.
During the landing process, the aircraft veered to the left, causing the main left landing gear to briefly leave the paved surface and enter the grass. The crew successfully regained control, returned the aircraft to the runway, and completed taxiing to the stand. No injuries were reported, and passengers disembarked without incident.
Weather conditions at the time included winds of 19 knots with gusts up to 32 knots, creating significant crosswind components. The incident occurred amidst widespread travel disruptions across the United Kingdom caused by the storm.
