Jet2 flight declares emergency and lands in Paris

A Jet2 Boeing 737-800 flight traveling from London Stansted to Ibiza was forced to make an emergency landing in Paris on Monday. While flying at 35,000 feet, the aircraft issued a 7700 squawk code, the international signal used to notify air traffic controllers of an immediate emergency.

Following the alert, the pilots diverted from their southern European route and performed a 180-degree turn over northern France to head toward Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. Air traffic control granted the aircraft absolute priority to facilitate a rapid descent. Emergency teams were stationed on the runway as a precaution, and the plane landed before 11:00 AM.

No injuries to passengers or crew have been reported. The specific cause of the emergency, which could range from mechanical failure to a medical situation, has not yet been confirmed by the airline.
