Jet2 issues safety warning over power banks and e-cigarettes

Jet2 has issued a safety reminder to passengers regarding the transport of items containing lithium batteries, specifically power banks and e-cigarettes. The airline advises that these items must be carried in hand luggage rather than placed in checked hold luggage.

To enhance safety, Jet2 recommends that passengers store these devices under the seat in front of them instead of in overhead lockers. Passengers are further advised to ensure all such devices are switched off, securely packaged, and that any exposed terminals are protected to prevent short circuits. The airline noted that damaged devices or batteries are strictly prohibited on board.

Additionally, small lithium battery-powered vehicles, such as hoverboards and balance wheels, are banned from both checked and hand luggage. David Hills, Chief Customer Officer at Jet2, stated that the reminder is intended to help keep travelers safe during the late-summer holiday period.
