JetBrains launches AI governance platform for development teams
JetBrains announced JetBrains AI for Teams and Organizations, a governance layer that sits above any AI coding tool developers use, such as Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI. The platform adds shared context, reusable agentic processes, cost controls and a central management console called JetBrains Central, which gives engineering leaders visibility into tool usage, policy enforcement and expense attribution. The rollout begins in July and will extend through August, with a CLI that integrates external tools into the same governance console.
The move addresses concerns that AI‑generated code, while boosting productivity, can introduce security flaws, incorrect logic or licensing issues if not verified. By providing an organization‑wide verification and governance layer, JetBrains aims to keep the speed benefits of AI assistants while reducing the risk of shipping defective code.
