Ještěd transmitter undergoes technical inspection for future reconstruction

Specialists have conducted technical inspections of the outer cladding of the Ještěd transmitter and the Mountain Hotel in the Liberec Region. The assessment was commissioned by the Liberec Region to prepare for future reconstruction efforts and ensure the long-term preservation of the iconic structure.

The inspection focused on the EPDM rubber membrane, which protects the tower from harsh mountain conditions such as wind, snow, and rain. Experts also examined the condition of seals, fastening strips, and DLR bolts to verify the structural integrity of the connections. The technical review was carried out by the certified firm BALANCE Praha.

Designed by architect Karel Hubáček and completed in 1973, Ještěd is a national cultural monument. Regional officials emphasized that the upcoming reconstruction aims to respect the original architectural details and character of the building while ensuring it remains safe and functional for future generations. The region also continues its long-term effort to have the site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
