Jeton Shasivari pursues judicial reforms and student consultations

North Macedonian Minister of Justice Jeton Shasivari is pursuing judicial reforms through dialogue with legal professionals and academic institutions. In a meeting with the President of the Bar Association, Llazo Gjorgievski, Shasivari emphasized that sustainable reforms require open and professional cooperation with legal practitioners to ensure legal certainty and efficiency in alignment with European standards.

Regarding the controversial jurisprudence exam, Shasivari plans to hold consultative meetings with law faculty deans and student associations to present proposed legal solutions. The Minister aims to address concerns regarding language barriers in the examination process. While students have previously rejected proposals that require theory in their native language and practice in Macedonian, Shasivari stated that the Ministry is working toward a long-term solution that includes options for exams in English and Turkish, alongside Albanian.

Shasivari rejected calls to resolve the issue through a single decision rather than legislative changes, arguing that legal amendments are necessary to ensure a sustainable and constitutional framework. He expressed confidence that professional clarification would demonstrate that the proposed changes represent an inclusive advancement for future legal candidates.
