JetSMART and Colonia Express announce new regional transport expansions

JetSMART Airlines is set to expand its operations in Argentina, launching direct flights between San Juan and Buenos Aires starting in November. San Juan Governor Marcelo Orrego met with JetSMART Country Manager Gonzalo Pérez Corral to discuss the arrival of the low-cost carrier, which aims to provide five weekly frequencies from Aeroparque with competitive pricing to boost tourism and regional connectivity.

In maritime transport, Colonia Express has reached an agreement to establish a direct connection between Montevideo and Buenos Aires. While the company received authorization from Uruguay's Ministry of Transport and Public Works in July, the launch depends on a formal resolution from the National Port Administration (ANP). The agreement follows discussions regarding the shared use of port infrastructure, specifically the Maciel pier, amid ongoing disputes with Buquebus.
