Jetstar expands Newcastle-Hobart direct flight capacity
Jetstar and Newcastle Airport have announced an expansion of the direct Newcastle-to-Hobart seasonal flight service. For the upcoming season running from 27 October 2026 to 24 April 2027, the airline will add 6,000 seats, representing a 27 per cent increase in capacity compared to the previous year. The service will provide over 28,000 total seats, operating three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using Airbus A320 aircraft.
Separately, Newcastle Airport reported a record-breaking day for international travel, handling 21,751 international passengers on 23 August. This growth follows significant infrastructure investments, including a £60 million facility upgrade and the establishment of new bases by carriers such as easyJet. The airport expects to reach a milestone of six million passengers in 2026.
