Jetstar launches non-stop Melbourne to Colombo flights

Jetstar has launched a new non-stop flight route between Melbourne and Colombo, Sri Lanka. The service is expected to provide more than 50,000 additional return-trip seats annually between Australia and Sri Lanka.

The expansion follows a significant rise in Australian tourism to Sri Lanka. According to Australian Bureau of Statistics figures, 139,410 Australians visited the country in the 12 months ending June 2026, marking a 13 per cent increase from the previous year and a 38 per cent spike compared to the period before that.

Jetstar will operate the route using Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which feature both economy and business class cabins. Data from existing Colombo bookings indicates that return passengers stay for an average of 13 days.
