Jett Lawrence clinches Southwick motocross win as brother Hunter crashes
Jett Lawrence secured the overall victory at the Southwick Pro Motocross Championship despite an injured foot, saying, “I wouldn’t want it any other way to be battling with your brother for a championship.” He managed his pace and focused on lap times to maintain his lead.
His brother, Hunter Lawrence, suffered two sand‑track crashes—first when the chain locked on his Honda HRC CRF450R and later after accidentally shifting into neutral. Hunter explained, “There’s never that emotion on the bike,” describing the need to stay emotionally controlled during a race. The sand surface at Southwick, described as a “sand track” with unique bumps, contributed to the difficulties.
Both riders highlighted recovery challenges, with Jett noting his foot still feels “about 70%” and a new foot peg providing limited relief. The event showcased the brothers’ rivalry and the demanding conditions of sand‑track motocross.
