Jetta M6 electric sedan begins pre-sales in China

FAW-Volkswagen’s Jetta brand has launched pre-sales for the M6, its first fully electric sedan in China. The vehicle is positioned to target the entry-level electric vehicle market, with prices ranging from approximately 80,800 yuan to 99,800 yuan (roughly $11,000 to $14,000 USD).

The M6 is available in three variants: the 465 Pro, 555 Max, and 555 Ultra, with the names reflecting their respective CLTC driving ranges of 465 km and 555 km. The sedan is built on the proprietary Jiesi architecture and features a single-motor, front-wheel-drive layout. Technical specifications include battery cells supplied by CALB and a vision-only system supported by Horizon Robotics’ Journey 6M chip to enable advanced driver assistance functions.

Industry analysts note that the M6’s highly competitive pricing is driven by China’s integrated local supply chain for batteries, chips, and electronic components, as well as lower manufacturing and engineering costs compared to European markets.
