JetZero's Z4 futuristic aircraft to debut in 2030
US‑based startup JetZero is developing the Z4, a window‑less, lounge‑style passenger aircraft designed for about 250 travelers. The wide‑body design features four aisles, external waiting areas beside the lavatories and a blended‑wing‑body shape that aims to cut fuel consumption by 30‑50 % and enable higher cruising altitudes. JetZero has secured $3 billion in financing from the US Export‑Import Bank and backing from roughly 20 airlines, including Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines. United Airlines has signaled intent to purchase up to 200 Z4s, contingent on meeting performance targets. Japan Airlines has also invested in the project, highlighting the aircraft’s 9 920 km range suitable for trans‑Pacific routes. The company plans to begin service with the Z4 by 2030, pending certification and further airline commitments.
