Jewelry heist in Ghent results in million euro loss
Two masked individuals robbed the Cagla Gold jewelry store in Ghent, stealing an estimated one million euros worth of diamonds and gold jewelry. During the heist, police arrived quickly and aimed weapons at the suspects, but the robbers managed to escape in a getaway vehicle. One bag of jewelry was left behind at the scene.
Police Chief Filip Rasschaert defended the officers, stating they acted professionally and within legal regulations. Under current laws, officers are subject to strict conditions regarding the use of firearms and are not permitted to shoot fleeing suspects simply for possessing stolen goods.
