Jewelry store robberies reported in Prato and Gela
Two separate jewelry store incidents have been reported in Italy. In Prato, two hooded individuals targeted the Zecchino d’Oro jewelry store on Via Marx. The perpetrators used hammers to smash display cases, seizing a significant amount of jewelry and watches. One staff member reportedly fell ill during the incident, while another was briefly intercepted by one of the robbers. The suspects fled in a vehicle, and police are currently reviewing surveillance footage to identify them.
In Gela, a 25-year-old man was arrested following an attempted robbery at a jewelry store in the historic center. The suspect entered the premises armed with a handgun and threw a backpack at the owner, demanding it be filled with gold. The attempt failed after the owner explained that the shop did not stock gold items. Following an investigation involving surveillance footage, police arrested the man and discovered weapons, ammunition, and equipment used for modifying firearms at his residence.
