Jewish communities face rising security concerns amid antisemitism

Jewish communities in North America are experiencing heightened security concerns amid a rise in antisemitic incidents. In Canada, Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to address the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, advocating for reforms to make multilateral institutions more effective and responsive to a changing global landscape.

In the United States, specifically Maryland, the presence of law enforcement at synagogues during High Holy Days has become a common necessity. Data from the Anti-Defamation League indicates that while antisemitic incidents in Maryland saw a decrease in 2025 compared to 2024, they remain significantly higher than 2020 levels. Nationally, antisemitic assaults increased by 4% in 2025, with assaults involving deadly weapons rising by 39%.
