Jewish Museum Amsterdam hosts magic history exhibition with Hans Klok
The Jewish Museum in Amsterdam is hosting a new exhibition titled ‘Abrakadabra – The Golden Age of Magicians, Wizards and Illusionists’ in collaboration with international illusionist Hans Klok.
The exhibition explores the history of great illusionists, tracing the evolution of magic from street performers and circus acts to large-scale variety theaters around 1900. It highlights key figures such as Okito and Harry Houdini, noting that many techniques used by modern performers, such as levitation and escapology, originated during this era.
Visitors to the museum can interact with the history of magic by attempting four famous magic tricks themselves, including illusions involving disappearing acts and sawing a person in half.
