Jewish organizations in Argentina call for end to antisemitism
As the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, begins, Jewish organizations in Argentina are calling for increased action against antisemitism. The AMIA, DAIA, and the Latin American Jewish Congress (CJL) held a meeting in Buenos Aires following reports of 713 antisemitic incidents in the country over the past year, with a significant concentration of these cases occurring in digital spaces.
The period of reflection coincides with the commemoration of the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States. The 2001 attacks, which resulted in nearly 3,000 deaths including five Argentines, significantly altered international security and global politics. The convergence of these dates serves as a moment for both spiritual introspection through traditions like the sounding of the shofar and a collective call for social justice and coexistence.
