Batista brothers to acquire 100% of Avibras Aeroco

Joesley and Wesley Batista, through their personal investment vehicle Globe Investimentos, have signed a contract to acquire 100% of the holding company controlling Avibras Aeroco. The deal, which is currently awaiting approval from the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade), marks the family's entry into the national defense and aerospace sectors.

Avibras, a major Brazilian defense manufacturer known for the ASTROS artillery system, has faced significant challenges. The company entered judicial recovery in 2022 with debts estimated at R$ 600 million and experienced a production halt and a strike that lasted 1,281 days. Operations only resumed in May 2026 following an agreement to pay approximately R$ 230 million in labor debts.

The acquisition aims to stabilize the company's recent operational recovery, preserve its technological and industrial capacity, and foster sustainable growth in domestic and international markets. The transaction involves the transfer of shares from FIP Brasil Crédito, a fund that previously held control of the company.
