Jharkhand CID arrests ninth person in JSSC exam irregularities case
The Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Sameer Kumar, a resident of Giridih district, in connection with alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC CGL) examination. This latest arrest brings the total number of individuals apprehended by the agency to nine since August 18.
The investigation pertains to the JSSC-CGL competitive examination conducted in 2024. Previous arrests include key accused Abhay Tiwari, a former block supply officer, along with his wife, Sushama Kumari, and his brother, Akshay Tiwari. On Friday, the agency also detained four successful candidates of the examination.
The controversy follows protests by job aspirants regarding recruitment irregularities, which led the Jharkhand government to announce the cancellation of several tests. However, the Jharkhand High Court has issued a stay on the cancellation of certain exams, including the JSSC-CGL-2023, following pleas from successful candidates concerned about potential job losses.
