Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren to lead opposition rally and convene special assembly session

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is set to join Rahul Gandhi at a high-profile rally in New Delhi on November 1 to protest the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Soren stated that the INDIA bloc will jointly oppose these measures.

To address these concerns domestically, the Jharkhand government has scheduled a special two-day session of the State Legislative Assembly for November 25 and 26. The session will focus on the electoral roll revision and recent amendments to the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act). The state intends to send a resolution opposing these measures to the central government.

Additionally, the Jharkhand Cabinet approved 62 proposals, including the sanctioning of Rs 284.17 crore for a 5,000-bed ‘Medico City’ in Ranchi. The Cabinet also approved policy updates to streamline mineral resource management and mandated that state universities allocate 2% of their budgets to establish campus health units.
