Jharkhand High Court criticizes government over vacant JPSC posts

The Jharkhand High Court has criticized the state government for failing to fill vacant leadership positions within the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). The court noted that the JPSC is a constitutional body and emphasized that the position of chairman should not remain vacant for an extended period.

The chairmanship has been vacant since July 21, following the departure of former chairman L Khiangte. This vacancy follows a period of instability in which three JPSC members resigned amid protests regarding recruitment irregularities. The court has directed the government to provide a timeline for filling these essential posts, with the next hearing scheduled for September 10.
