Jharkhand High Court to receive three new judges following Collegium approval

The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the appointment of three new judges to the Jharkhand High Court. This decision follows a meeting chaired by Chief Justice Surya Kant on September 10.

The three judicial officers selected for promotion from the Jharkhand Superior Judicial Service cadre are Manoj Prasad, currently the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Garhwa; Akhil Kumar, the PDJ of Sahibganj; and Ram Sharma, the PDJ of Palamau.

With these appointments, the total number of judges at the Jharkhand High Court will increase from 13 to 16. This move aims to address the growing caseload, as there are 25 sanctioned posts for the court, with 9 currently remaining vacant.
