Jharkhand PSC chair resigns amid exam scandal
Former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairman L. Khyangte resigned voluntarily to allow an impartial investigation into alleged irregularities in the 14th Civil Services Mains exam. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) summoned Khyangte for questioning on 28 July, conducting a nine‑hour interrogation and raiding his official residence and JPSC offices, seizing examination documents and OMR sheets.
The CID has arrested ten individuals, including JPSC staff and officials of the outsourced agency TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL), which was black‑listed at the time of the exam. Opposition parties allege that examination seats were sold for ₹40 lakh each. Following the raids and the investigation, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar accepted Khyangte’s resignation. The JPSC postponed the scheduled 14th Civil Services Mains examination (25‑27 July) citing “unavoidable circumstances.”
