Jharkhand lawyer's suspicious death sparks murder allegations

Public tension and protests have escalated in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, following the suspicious death of Anushka Chakraborty, an advocate at the Jharkhand High Court. Her body was discovered hanging from a noose on Thursday inside a residential complex in the Bengali Para area.

Chakraborty’s family has alleged that her death was a premeditated murder, leveling accusations against her husband. While the husband reportedly contacted emergency services to report the incident, claiming he was in Palamu at the time, he has not appeared before authorities since. Police are currently conducting raids to locate and take him into custody.

In response to family demands, a second post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday. Relatives and local lawyers have staged protests, stating they will withhold last rites until the husband is arrested and a high-level investigation is launched. Ramgarh MLA Mamta Devi has also called for a high-level probe and requested videography of the post-mortem process to ensure transparency.
