Jhené Aiko reaches first Billboard 200 No. 1 with ‘Westside Whimsy’

R&B singer Jhené Aiko has achieved her first number one album on the Billboard 200 with the release of ‘Westside Whimsy’. The 20-track project debuted at the top of the chart for the week ending September 17, earning 74,000 equivalent album units in the United States.

The album's performance was driven primarily by streaming, which accounted for 70,000 units via 71.33 million on-demand streams. Pure album sales contributed an additional 3,500 units. This debut surpassed earlier industry projections that had estimated the album would move approximately 62,000 units.

‘Westside Whimsy’ features several guest appearances, including Kendrick Lamar on the track ‘So Good’, as well as Ab-Soul, Tyga, Larry June, and Ohma. This milestone marks a significant career achievement for Aiko, whose previous highest-charting album, ‘Chilombo’, peaked at number two in 2020.
