Jhené Aiko releases new album ‘Westside Whimsy’

Jhené Aiko has released her fourth studio album, titled ‘Westside Whimsy’, marking her first full-length project in six years. Described by the artist as a ‘lifestyle’ rather than just a project, the 20-track album serves as a ‘love letter’ to her hometown of Los Angeles.

The album features several high-profile collaborations, most notably with Kendrick Lamar on the track ‘So Good’. The two artists have a long-standing creative history dating back to 2010. Other guest appearances include Larry June, Ab-Soul, and Tyga.

Following the release, Aiko addressed social media speculation regarding the lyrical content of tracks such as ‘He Belongs’ and ‘Ceiling (Freestyle)’. While the songs touch on themes of infidelity and relationship frustrations, Aiko clarified on Threads that the song ‘He Belongs’ is not about her former partner, Big Sean.
