Jhenaidah police arrest suspect for desecrating Bir Sreshtho Hamidur Rahman sculpture

Police in Jhenaidah have arrested a suspect, identified as Abdur Rahman (also known as Samrat), following the desecration of an unfinished sculpture of Bir Sreshtho Hamidur Rahman. The incident involved hanging a garland of shoes from the monument located near the central bus terminal.

The act sparked widespread public outrage and condemnation across the district. In response, the district administration held an emergency meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Md. Noman Hossain, where a special investigation committee was formed to probe the incident. Authorities are currently investigating whether the act was an isolated incident or part of a larger organized effort.

Local residents have expressed concerns that the monument was left vulnerable due to its incomplete construction and lack of security. Law enforcement officials stated they are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting interrogations to determine the full circumstances behind the act.
