Jhon Arias faces Fluminense hostility following Palmeiras victory

Palmeiras midfielder Jhon Arias faced intense hostility from Fluminense supporters during the first leg of the Libertadores semifinal at the Maracanã. After being booed and called “Judas” by fans of his former club, Arias responded on social media by sharing a photo accompanied by the song “Bendiciones” by Bad Bunny. The lyrics, which discuss wishing well to those who speak ill of others, were interpreted by many as a subtle message to the Fluminense crowd.

Arias, who played for Fluminense from 2021 to 2025 and won multiple titles with the club, stated that the reception does not affect him, suggesting that people suffer from “amnesia” regarding his history with the team.

Since joining Palmeiras for 25 million euros, Arias has been utilized for his tactical versatility, capable of playing as both a winger and a midfielder under coach Abel Ferreira. Despite the recent friction with former fans, he remains a key figure for Palmeiras, having contributed significantly to their 2026 campaign in both the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Libertadores group stages.
