Colombia earthquake: Jhon Arias sends medical aid to Chocó
A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck Colombia, with its epicenter in San José del Palmar, Chocó, resulting in at least 169 deaths across the country. The disaster has caused widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure, particularly in the Chocó department, which remains one of the nation's most isolated regions.
In response to the crisis, Colombian footballer Jhon Arias and his wife, Alejandra Ayala, have launched a humanitarian initiative. They have deployed private aircraft to transport medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and specialized health professionals and rescuers to Quibdó. To support ongoing relief efforts, the couple has also established bank accounts in Colombia and Brazil to collect donations for affected families.
Amid the emergency, various reactions have emerged. While some public figures have expressed condolences, others have engaged in social media debates regarding the speed of celebrity involvement. Additionally, religious figures have drawn attention to previous warnings regarding seismic activity in the region.
