Jhovanny Metz Cruz deported to Dominican Republic for murder suspect role

Jhovanny de Jesús Metz Cruz, known as “Macho,” has been deported from Jamaica to the Dominican Republic. He is identified as the primary suspect in the April death of Deivy Carlos Abreu Quezada, a 41-year-old garbage truck driver.

The incident occurred in Santiago after a group of motorcyclists pursued Abreu Quezada from the Circunvalación Sur avenue to the parking lot of the Santiago Palace of Justice. Despite attempting to seek refuge at the judicial building, the driver was attacked with blunt force and a knife, later dying from his injuries.

Metz Cruz was received at Las Américas International Airport following a coordinated operation involving the Dominican Public Ministry, Interpol, and migration authorities. He faces potential legal measures, including 12 months of preventive detention. He also reportedly faces separate legal proceedings regarding a prior alleged attack on a police officer.

Seven other individuals, all motorcyclists involved in the pursuit, are currently serving preventive detention for their roles in the crime.
