Jiří Anderle: Legacy of an acclaimed Czech painter and radio personality

Academic painter, graphic artist, and illustrator Jiří Anderle is being honored for his extensive career and international recognition. Having received approximately forty international awards, including Grand Prix at the biennial in Belgium, his works are held in prestigious institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the National Gallery in Prague.

In addition to his visual arts career, Anderle has a significant connection to Czech Radio. He hosted the successful program ‘Láska za lásku’, which ran for 20 years and featured his reflections on childhood, friends, and travels. Following the passing of his collaborator Vlado Príkazský in 2021, a collection of hundreds of minidiscs containing these recordings has been identified as a unique audio treasure, prompting plans for a special project to mark his 90th birthday.
