Jia Jin Chai drama achieves high viewership on Youku and Netflix

The historical fantasy drama ‘Jia Jin Chai’, starring Tian Xiwei and Yan An, has achieved significant viewership success following its simultaneous release on Youku and Netflix on October 16. On the Youku platform, the series broke annual popularity records by reaching a heat index of 9,000 within 26 hours of its premiere. Internationally, the show reached the Netflix global TV program charts at number 8 and appeared in the top 10 in 28 countries and regions, including top rankings in Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

The 30-episode series follows a story of identity substitution and domestic power struggles. Tian Xiwei performs a dual role, portraying both the resilient ‘Wei Rao’ and the arrogant ‘Jun Dai’. While the show has garnered high commercial interest, including major sponsorships, it has also sparked debate regarding Tian’s acting style, with some viewers criticizing her facial expressions as being ‘overly forceful’ while others praise her ability to distinguish between the two characters.
