Jiang Qichen Forms Taichung Mayoral Campaign Team, Lu Hsiu‑yen Leads

Deputy Legislative Yuan speaker Jiang Qichen announced the formation of his campaign team for the upcoming Taichung mayoral election, launching a "Taichung City Accelerator" as a flagship work station. He thanked incumbent mayor Lu Hsiu‑yen for eight years of governance that made Taichung the nation's most "happy" city and appointed her as the campaign chief of the KMT ticket. Legislative member Yang Qiong‑ying was named chief deputy, and the team emphasized continuing the city's happiness foundation while pushing Taichung toward international flagship status.

The announcement came less than four months before Taiwan's nine‑in‑one local elections, signalling a new phase of unified KMT campaigning in the city and highlighting plans for major projects such as the international exhibition center, green corridors, and infrastructure upgrades.
