Jiangxi Governor Ye Jianchun placed under investigation

Ye Jianchun, the Governor of Jiangxi Province, is under investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and the National Commission of Supervision for suspected serious violations of discipline and law. He was reportedly taken into custody on the evening of August 25, 2026, in Ruijin, Ganzhou.

Reports indicate that Ye's family may have been involved in the rare earth business in Jiangxi, a province that holds a significant portion of China's heavy rare earth reserves. Additionally, investigations may touch upon his previous roles in the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Emergency Management.

Following the announcement, the Jiangxi provincial government removed Ye's information from its official leadership directory. The Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee held an expanded meeting to report the investigation, emphasizing a commitment to eradicating 'family-style corruption' and 'nepotism.'
