JICA strengthens development partnerships in Cameroon and Guinea

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is expanding its developmental footprint across Africa, marked by significant milestones in Cameroon and new educational priorities in Guinea.

In Cameroon, JICA celebrated 20 years of cooperation. Since 2006, the agency has mobilized 353.3 billion CFA francs to support priority sectors including education, agriculture, and infrastructure. Key achievements include the construction of over 120 schools and 1,500 classrooms, the training of 40,000 rice farmers, the installation of 400 boreholes, and support for 1,500 private sector enterprises.

In Guinea, the government is working to strengthen educational partnerships with Japan. Discussions between Guinean Education Minister Bintou Keita and the Japanese Ambassador focused on improving school infrastructure, developing preschool education, and establishing school canteen programs that utilize local products. This includes leveraging triangular cooperation between Japan, Senegal, and Guinea to share expertise in educational system development.
