Jigawa Governor Namadi declares opposition collapsed after mass party defections

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has announced the collapse of political opposition in the state following mass defections from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

During a reception at the Government House in Dutse, Namadi confirmed that the entire NNPP state leadership structure, led by Alhaji Shehu Garu, has joined the APC across all 27 local government areas. Additionally, significant blocks of PDP members defected, including over 500 members from Maigatari Local Government Area and 1,212 members from Kaugama Local Government Area.

Governor Namadi stated that these defections reflect growing public confidence in his administration's governance and socio-economic policies. He assured the new members of equal rights and inclusion within the party and government, describing the shift as a milestone for APC's presence at the grassroots level.
