Jigawa State to increase NYSC monthly allowances
Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has announced plans to increase the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state to mitigate the impact of rising inflation. While addressing Batch C corps members at the orientation camp in Dutse, Namadi stated that the state would review its ₦5,000 monthly payment to better support the welfare of graduates amid increasing living costs.
In addition to the monthly allowance review, the governor announced a one-off settlement allowance of ₦10,000 for each corps member upon completion of their three-week orientation to assist with their transition to primary places of assignment. Namadi also pledged to improve camp facilities, including renovating the orientation camp, constructing a new hall, and providing a standby generator.
Governor Namadi emphasized the state's commitment to the safety and security of corps members, noting that the administration is working with security agencies and traditional institutions to ensure a conducive environment. He encouraged the members to integrate into their host communities and contribute to sectors such as education, healthcare, and rural development.
