Jihlava and Budějovice start major energy‑saving infrastructure upgrades

The city of Jihlava approved a CZK 26 million investment to replace its mechanical aeration system at the wastewater treatment plant with a bubble‑injection technology, projected to cut energy use by about 60 %. A further CZK 11 million will fund a study to maximise biogas production from sludge and explore the use of food‑waste feedstock, aiming to keep sewage fees stable for residents.

In České Budějovice, municipal authorities are spending CZK 98 million on extensive renovations of several kindergartens, including insulation of walls, roof replacement, installation of electrically controlled external blinds and a new photovoltaic array on one building. The upgrades also cover complete replacement of electrical, water, heating and ventilation systems, with the goal of reducing the schools' energy consumption and operating costs.
