Jihlava Opens New Central Transport Terminal

On 24 June, the city of Jihlava and Czech railway operator Správa železnic formally opened the first stage of the Central Transport Terminal. The upgraded station includes a new departure‑arrival hall, modern platforms with barrier‑free access via elevators, an underpass, and a combined ticket office. A park‑and‑ride lot with 68 spaces, new bicycle facilities and an expanded public‑space area were also added.

The terminal now serves 122 daily regional train connections and integrates tram‑bus line C, a new weekend line T and, from 1 July, additional VDV regional bus services. A second phase will add a dedicated bus station and further urban‑space improvements, pending preparation work. The project cost roughly CZK 1.485 billion, financed by Správa železnic, the municipality and European Union funds.
