Jihlava Transport Company modernizes fleet with new CNG buses
The Jihlava Transport Company (DPMJ) is undergoing its most significant fleet modernization since 2010. The company is introducing dozens of new ecological vehicles, including SOR NS 12 CNG natural gas buses, to replace aging models that have reached up to one million kilometers in service.
The new buses feature modern information systems that will display upcoming stops and transfer connections, as well as passenger counting frames to monitor occupancy levels. The vehicles are designed for high capacity, accommodating 29 seated and 68 standing passengers.
While the fleet upgrade brings increased comfort and air conditioning, drivers face growing challenges. These include intensifying urban traffic, upcoming road reconstructions such as the Znojemský Bridge, and increased passenger aggression. Director Radim Rovner noted that while the new technology improves service, drivers must navigate more complex city environments and demanding operational schedules.
