Jihočeské divadlo announces autumn program of premieres
The Jihočeské divadlo theater in the Czech Republic has unveiled its upcoming autumn repertoire, featuring a mix of classical operetta, improvisation, and historical drama.
On October 23, the Opera Jihočeského divadla will present Emmerich Kálmán’s operetta ‘Čardášová princezna’. Set against the backdrop of 1914, the production explores the romance between a young aristocrat and a cabaret singer amidst the shifting social conventions preceding World War I.
On October 31, the Malé divadlo will premiere ‘Stalo se…?’, an improvisational production created in collaboration with the group ‘My kluci, co spolu chodíme’. The performance uses real news headlines from both history and the present day to build unique, improvised stories that touch upon conspiracy theories and media literacy.
A pre-premiere of ‘Královna Margot’, based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas, is scheduled for November 13. The production focuses on the Valois royal family and the intersection of pleasure and politics.
Additionally, the theater will host the ‘Malá inventura’ festival and a commemorative event on November 17 titled ‘Modlitba pro Martu’ to mark the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution.
