At 75, Biden said she was “shocked” when Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump, recalling that she woke at 5 a.m. to feed her cat Willow and learned of the result.

Biden, who campaigned heavily for Harris and had expressed confidence that the Democratic ticket would break the glass ceiling, now believes a woman president may come only after her generation.
