Jim Adkins of Jimmy Eat World undergoes emergency surgery

Jim Adkins, frontman of the band Jimmy Eat World, has undergone emergency surgery following a diagnosis of retinal detachment. Adkins reported noticing a shadow spreading across his field of vision while preparing for a performance at the Warped Tour in Mexico City.

Medical professionals advised that continuing to perform could have resulted in permanent vision loss, leading the band to make the difficult decision to cancel several upcoming appearances. In addition to the Mexico City date, the band has canceled scheduled performances at Louder Than Life in Louisville and Shaky Knees in Atlanta.

Adkins is currently at home recovering from the procedure.
