Jim Carrey to star in live-action ‘The Jetsons’ film

Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed that Jim Carrey will star in a new live-action film adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera animation, ‘The Jetsons’. While the studio has not officially confirmed the specific character Carrey will play, it is widely anticipated that he will portray the protagonist, George Jetson.

The production is expected to reach theaters after 2027. This announcement follows years of rumors regarding a big-screen reboot of the futuristic franchise.

This project marks a new attempt to bring the series to cinema, following the 1990 release of ‘Jetsons: The Movie’. That previous theatrical attempt faced commercial challenges and was marked by a tragic production history, as the original voice actors for George Jetson, George O’Hanlon, and Cosmo Spacely, Mel Blanc, both passed away before the film's completion.
