Jim Caviezel joins Hristo Stoichkov biopic

Hollywood actor Jim Caviezel has joined the cast of ‘Stoichkov – Once Upon a Time in Bulgaria’, an international film production detailing the life of legendary Bulgarian footballer Hristo Stoichkov.

Caviezel will portray Jose Maria Minguez, the influential football agent who played a pivotal role in facilitating Stoichkov’s transfer from CSKA to FC Barcelona by recommending him to Johan Cruyff. The actor has reportedly undergone a significant physical transformation for the role.

The film is based on the bestseller ‘Hristo Stoichkov. The Story’ by sports journalist Vladimir Pamukov. The production is directed by Martin Makariyev, with Alexander Sano serving as creative producer and Georgi Angelov as screenwriter. Hollywood screenwriter Rod Barr, known for ‘Sound of Freedom’, has joined the project as creative director.
