Jim Cramer to sell Bitcoin over quantum computing fears as price climbs
CNBC host Jim Cramer announced he will sell all of his Bitcoin holdings because of concerns that advances in quantum computing could break the cryptography protecting the cryptocurrency. The warning followed an interview with IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna, who said investors should become “paranoid” about crypto security within the next three to four years. Despite Cramer’s plan, Bitcoin rose about 1.6‑1.7% on the day, trading near $63,500‑$63,700. A large “whale” wallet moved roughly 16,400 BTC (about $1 billion) to a new address, highlighting ongoing liquidity strain in the market. Analysts remain divided on the timeline for a quantum breakthrough, with some saying the threat is decades away while others warn it could emerge within a few years.
