Jim Cummings denies misquoted Disney comments

Voice actor Jim Cummings has addressed recent reports claiming he made disparaging remarks about Disney. The controversy stems from an interview with Collider regarding a Darkwing Duck reboot, where he was reported to have said, “I hope they get… everything they deserve.”

Cummings clarified his stance via Facebook, stating he was being “muted, clipped and misquoted” regarding the phrase. He explained that his intention was actually to express affection for the company, noting, “While I was being being muted, clipped and misquoted about Disney ‘getting what they deserve’… I was actually busy giving Disney exactly what they deserve, a whole lot of love.”

The tension follows Cummings' recent public reaction to being omitted from the 2026 Disney Legends class announcement at D23, where he shared posts highlighting his 40-year career and 1,500 characters.
