The demand follows scrutiny regarding past intelligence community actions, specifically a 2020 open letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials. That letter had suggested the New York Post’s reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop possessed the characteristics of a Russian information operation. Subsequent authentication of the laptop’s emails has been noted in relation to these previous claims.
