Jim Thorpe Award announces defensive back semifinalists

The Jim Thorpe Association and the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame have announced 15 semifinalists for the 2026 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award, which recognizes the nation’s top defensive back.

Among the semifinalists are University of Louisville junior safety Kaleb Beasley and Texas Tech senior cornerback Brice Pollock. Beasley, who is tied for the national lead with five interceptions, is the first Louisville player to record at least five interceptions in a season since 2016. Pollock, who was previously on the preseason watch list, has recorded two interceptions and six pass breakups through seven games.

The three finalists for the award will be announced by ESPN on November 24. The ultimate winner will be selected from those finalists by a national selection committee.
